At the Ballarat Petanque Club we have a passion to introduce our sport to as many people as possible. Petanque is a game suitable for players of all ages, abilities and playing skills. It is sport that encourages players to exercise, socialise and make new friends.

Our purpose-built venue offers established facilities and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is a picturesque setting only minutes from the city centre and just down the hill from Sovereign Hill. Guests are always welcome at Ballarat Petanque Club to experience the fun, the challenge and the enjoyment of throwing a boule with others.

The name pétanque means "anchored feet" and the throwing techniques enable people of all abilities to play. Pétanque emerged from an earlier game played by the French which was much more energetic requiring players to leap and twirl to throw the boule.

The pétanque of today is  played across the world by people of all ages. It can be fiercely competitive when playing in a tournament, or very friendly in a Club social game where people enjoy the playing and the laughing rather than a focus on winning.
